Australian singer Delta Goodrem cut short a concert in Sydney on Friday night (02Nov12) after scalding her legs in a bizarre accident.

Boiling water from a voice steamer landed on the The Born to Try hitmaker before her show at The State Theatre, but she decided to go ahead with her performance as planned.

However, she abandoned the gig halfway through when her injuries became too painful.

Goodrem has assured fans she is recovering well from the accident, and plans to honour her concert commitments this week (begs05Nov12).

In a statement, she writes, "Unfortunately the pain and effects from treating the burns got greater and greater as the night progressed and ultimately there came a point that I could not continue performing.

"I want everyone to know that I am recovering well and will be in fine form for my forthcoming Melbourne shows... Thank you again for your support and understanding."

The singer also took to her Twitter.com page on Monday (05Nov12) to thank her fans for their concern, writing in a series of posts, "Thank you all So very much for ur Wishes of love & support through these last couple of challenging days! I am so so lucky I have the best supporters in the whole world. So loving... u (you) all inspire me."
