Harrison Ford Named Favourite Film President

Harrison Ford has been handed the honour of being named the fictional president film fans would most like to see in the White House.

Overcoming terrorists on the presidential plane in 1997's Air Force One saw Ford top the poll ahead of fictional US presidents played by Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas and Jack Nicholson.

In a poll of Moviefone.com users, Ford's portrayal of president James Marshall took 24 per cent of the vote to pip Freeman's Tom Beck - from Deep Impact (1998) - to the role of the fictional president people would vote for in real life.

"It seems everybody is looking for a commander-in-chief who can come in and take command," said Moviefone editor-in-chief Scott Robson.

"Our readers voted with their hearts at a time when you have the economy going down the tubes, but in an ideal world it would be great to have a president who can kick some ass."

Michael Douglas claimed third with 15 per cent of the vote for his turn as the widowed Andrew Shepherd in The American President (1995) while Bill Pullman's alien-battling leader in Independence Day (1996) finished fourth.

The top 10 movie presidents who Americans would vote into office in real life according to the poll are:

1 Harrison Ford - Air Force One (1997)
2 Morgan Freeman - Deep Impact (1998)
3 Michael Douglas - The American President (1995)
4 Bill Pullman - Independence Day (1996)
5 Kevin Kline - Dave (1993)
6 Dennis Quaid - American Dreamz (2006)
7 Bruce Greenwood - National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2003)
8 James Cromwell - The Sum of All Fears (2002)
9 Jack Nicholson - Mars Attacks (1996)
10 Jeff Bridges - The Contender (2000)

Camden Crawl 'Will Go Ahead' Despite Fire, Organisers Say

By on 12 February 2008

Camden Crawl Amy Winehouse Deep Impact NME Razorlight

The 2008 Camden Crawl will go ahead as planned, despite the fire that ravaged the north London district on Saturday night, the festival organisers have confirmed.

Much of Camden market was gutted by the huge fire, while a team of 100 firefighters was despatched to the area to tackle the blaze.

Also damaged in the fire was The Hawley Arms, the pub frequented by the likes of Razorlight, Amy Winehouse and the Mighty Boosh, and set to be used as a venue on this year's Camden Crawl on April 18th and 19th.

But according to festival organiser Lisa Paulon, this year's event will go ahead as planned.

The Crawl has previously featured the likes of Winehouse, Klaxons, the Holloways and Hot Chip and is held in a number of venues in the north London district.

Talking to NME, she said: "Last Saturday's tragic incident has understandably had a Deep Impact on those who work, live and frequent the Camden area.

"We are especially saddened by the extent of the damage wreaked upon The Hawley Arms and the upset and disruption that is has caused to our friends there."

"Central to last year's event, The Hawley was due to host various live events and parties, but will now unfortunately not be included within the festival," Paulon added.

She explained that as no other venues were affected by the fire, this year's event will go ahead as scheduled.

"Camden's musical history and reputation for breeding new musical talent will continue to be celebrated now more than ever and we are currently looking into ways that the festival will be able to help those affected by the fire."

Veteran actor Robert Duvall has launched a scathing attack on director STEVEN SPIELBERG - for befriending Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

THE GODFATHER star is furious with Minority Report film-maker Spielberg after hearing a quote in which he said: "The best seven hours I ever spent was actually with Fidel Castro."

Fuming Duvall told American show 60 MINUTES: "Now, what I want to ask him, and I know he's going to get p***ed off, is, 'Would you consider building a little annex on the Holocaust museum or at least across the street to honour the dead Cubans that Castro killed?'"
