She's Out Of My League Review

Very Good
For all its rude humour and chucklehead antics, this is actually a sweet and shy romantic comedy. It also boosts Jay Baruchel into leading-man status with a thoroughly charming performance.

Two years after taking a break from his girlfriend (Sloane), geeky airport security guard Kirk (Baruchel) still pines for her. Then he meets the unspeakably hot Molly (Eve), who improbably takes an interest in him. But Kirk's buddies (Miller, Vogel and Torrence) and his parents (Rupp and LeFevre) wonder how this dork could land such a gorgeous, smart, successful girl. The truth might be that he's not such a loser after all. But how will he ever believe that?

Kickin' It Old Skool Review

Weak
Haven't I seen this movie before? More to the point: Haven't I seen Jamie Kennedy make this movie before?

Well, not exactly. While Malibu's Most Wanted featured a goofy white guy obsessed with rap culture -- to the extreme annoyance of everyone around him -- Kickin' It Old Skool gives us Kennedy as a goofy white guy obsessed with... breakdancing culture. The key difference? In Old Skool Kennedy is a coma victim who awakens 20 years after a junior-high talent show (after breakdancing his way to a concussion, of course), only to find a world that's unlike the '80s. Wait, haven't I seen this movie before?

Lucky 13 Review

Bad
I'm hard-pressed to name a more ill-advised and simply cringe-inducing motion picture than Lucky 13, a romantic comedy so far gone from both romance and comedy that putting Pauly Shore in it might have been an improvement.

Mop-topped Brad Hunt is the lead, a slacker/loser named Zach that's coming to grips with his long-term crush over Abbey (Lauren Graham, who can't save this picture with a half-hearted effort), whom he's never opened up with. She's leaving town, so Zach embarks on a voyage of self-discovery to figure out why he's been so unsuccessful with the ladies.

Teacher's Pet Review

Excellent
I have a hard time deciding whether or not I like Nathan Lane. Since he starred in The Birdcage almost a decade ago, he seems to have adopted an overblown, theatrical presence to whatever role he's playing. Call it Al Pacino Syndrome: when a talented actor finds success with a certain type of performance and then refuses to evolve regardless of the script.

That unwavering acting style can prove beneficial from time to time. Pacino's bellicose antics served him well in Michael Mann's overrated journalism epic The Insider and Lane's motivational speaker/Broadway crooner delivery proves to be a perfect fit in Disney's Teacher's Pet, an animated TV series that comes to the big screen with humor, heart and songs aplenty.
