Deadmau5 and Kat Von D are planning an underwater-themed wedding.

The Canadian DJ proposed to the tattoo artist - who he split from in November after a two-month romance - on Twitter in December and the pair are now looking forward to tying the knot in a a special ceremony inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's short story 'The Call of Cthulhu,' about a half-man, half-octopus.

Kat also told People magazine the ceremony will take place on August 10 in front of 200 friends and family in Los Angeles and will be ''the furthest thing from traditional''.

In December, Deadmau5 - whose real name is Joel Zimmerman - tweeted: ''I can't wait for Christmas so.... Katherine Von Drachenberg, will you marry me?''

The tweet was accompanied by a picture of a diamond ring flanked by two skulls, with text on the image explaining that the musician planned to get the stone switched.

He wrote: ''Changing the diamond for a black diamond FYI. Sorry for the jpg... they'll finish the actual ring soon I hope. I love you. (sic)''

Kat replied with a series of exclamation marks, prompting her new fiance to write: ''Holy f***ing s**t. im engaged and stuff! (sic)''

Kat - who was previously engaged to Sandra Bullock's ex-husband Jesse James - and Deadmau5 then thanked fans for their well-wishes.

Kat wrote: ''Mi corazon!!! Thank you all for the lovely congratulations. Please excuse me while I go squeeze the hell out of my fiance!''

Deadmau5 added: ''Thanks for the well wishes and support from the horde and everyone else!

''brb while i spend the rest of my evening with my future wife :) (sic)''
