British comedian David Walliams was delighted to meet Queen Elizabeth II this week (begs05Dec11) after the royal took the time to chat to the funnyman about his recent charity swim.
The Little Britain star swam 140 miles (225 kilometres) along England's River Thames in September (11) for the U.K.'s Sport Relief organisation, and he was among the guests at a reception at Buckingham Palace on Thursday (08Dec11) for famous adventurers.
Walliams was greeted by the monarch, and he was surprised to learn she had been keeping up-to-date with his challenge, which left the funnyman sick with a stomach bug and nursing a back injury.
Speaking on Britain's The One Show on Friday (09Dec11), he says, "I got to meet the Queen last night at Buckingham Palace. She invited me to meet her because of the swim.
"It was amazing - I got to chat to her twice. She asked me how I was so she'd followed the whole thing and knew I wasn't well. It was adventurers and explorers... we were all sharing stories."
