British funnyman David Walliams dressed up as a zookeeper to give a "truly inspirational" schoolgirl the biggest surprise of her life.

The comedian, who is married to supermodel Lara Stone, stunned 16-year-old Alice Pyne when he told her she had won a Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Award and presented her with an invitation to the ceremony.

The terminally-ill teen was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of cancer, when she was 12 and has attracted attention with her touching motto "One life... live it!" and her blog of a 'bucket list' of things she wants to achieve.

She has also tirelessly campaigned for more bone marrow donors and has managed to get more than 40,000 people to register.

The schoolgirl is a fan of Walliams' comedy show Little Britain, and she was amazed when he surprised her while she was on a family outing at London Zoo.

Walliams told Pyne, "What you're doing is incredibly brave. You're turning what could be negative into a huge positive. We're all amazingly proud of you."
