Funnyman David Walliams and his Dutch model wife Lara Stone have become parents for the first time, with Lara giving birth to the child late on Sunday (May 5). The wonderful news was confirmed by a representative for Lara to MailOnline during yesterday (May 6) evening. Congrats guys!

The pair had wanted to keep the news of the birth away from the public eye just a tad longer, but their cover was thrown when Lara's photographer friend Mert Alas revealed the news on Twitter, before deleting his tweet shortly after. Unfortunately for the couple though, that little titbit was enough to alert the masses and soon the news was forced out of the couple's mouth.

David Walliams and Lara Stone are parents.

David and Lara first began seeing each other in September 2009, dating exclusively for eight months before tying the knot in May 2010 at London's exclusive Claridge's Hotel. Since then the pair have had some practice taking care of some little feet pattering around their house, adopting a Border Terrier named Bert last year.

The pair have been keeping relatively low under the radar in recent weeks, with Lara last being spotted in public laking her pet pooch and her blossoming baby bump for a walk around London a few weeks ago. Meanwhile prolific Tweeter Walliams has equally as quiet in public and on the micro-blogging site, but hopefully their silence has been caused by the anticipation surrounding their child rather than anything else.

With the quiet, this means we have no knowledge of any baby names or the child's sex, however should Walliams regain his Twitter addiction some time soon then we may not have to worry too long to find out. It is rumoured that the baby is a boy, following another mistimed congratulatory Tweet, this time form model Teresa Baca, who Tweeted 'Congratulations to Lara Stone and David Walliams who had a baby boy yesterday...' although we don't want to jump immediately to conclusions despite this Tweet.
