David Walliams has been announced as the first host of ITV’s brand new series ‘The Nightly Show’, launching early next year.

Walliams will host the first week of shows, with the presenter then changing every week for its eight week run, the Names of the other hosts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

‘The Nightly Show’ will be a five nights a week ‘entertainment series’, modelled on successful American late-night shows such as James Corden’s ‘The Late Late Show’.

It will air on weeknights at 10pm, meaning the ‘News at Ten’ will now become the ‘News at Ten-Thirty’.

After being announced Walliams said: "I am thrilled to be the first host for this brand new show for ITV.”

In a press release ITV said: “The famous faces hosting the show during the eight week run will oversee a high tempo mixture of topical monologue, studio games, celebrity guests, experts and VT’s.”

Peter Davey, ITV’s Head Of Comedy Entertainment said: “We're really excited about launching this bold new show, and delighted that David will kick off what will be an eight week entertainment treat for viewers.”

Second Act Productions added: “We’re thrilled that David had agreed to kick off the series by hosting week one of The Nightly Show. He’s a major talent and will set the tone of what we hope will be a very exciting series.”
