Viewers REALLY didn't like ITV's brand new late night talk show when it made its debut on Monday evening.
The knives were out on social media for ITV’s brand new ‘The Nightly Show’ when it made its debut last night, with viewers branding the late night talk show “dire” and “awful”.
Fronted by David Walliams and boasting a mixture of topical comedy and celebrity interviews based on the traditional American late night chat show format, ‘The Nightly Show’ airs every weekday at 10pm, with ITV pushing the news back until 10:30pm.
However, despite initial viewing figures of nearly three million, representing a success in terms of the ratings, the reaction on Twitter was such that one wonders what lies in the store for the show on its second night on Tuesday.

Minogue and Walliams were both guest on Chris Evans' BBC Radio 2 show on Friday morning.
David Walliams and Dannii Minogue were involved in a rather bemusing on-air exchange on BBC Radio 2 this morning, as Walliams said the former ‘X Factor’ judge once booty-called him for late-night sex.
The remark came after Dannii told the show’s host, Chris Evans, that her fellow guest Walliams alarmed her on occasion, in what was an awkward encounter on Friday morning (February 24th).
Asked whether she found the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge “scary”, Dannii replied: “I do, I always have done. You know that. Do you see how he’s looking at me?” Walliams replied: “But you gave me a booty call once.”

Carmen Electra has spoken about her 2012 guest stint on 'BGT'.
Electra didn't exactly endear herself to ‘BGT’ fans during her guest spot and the 43-year-old was reportedly heckled by audience members during filming. But speaking at a charity event in Los Angeles earlier this week Electra said she loved her time on the show, especially sitting next to Simon Cowell.
Earlier this year Cowell took a dig at the comedian over his divorce from model Lara Stone.
‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge Amanda Holden has admitted that sometimes things can get a little too personal between Simon Cowell and David Walliams on the ITV talent show. Holden revealed that earlier this year Walliams became very ‘p**sed off’ with Cowell, after he joked about his recent divorce from model Lara Stone.
David Walliams was left shocked when Simon Cowell mentioned his divorce during ‘BGT’.
The incident happened when Cowell asked a contestant “Why aren’t you married?”, to which Walliams interrupted to ask the music mogul the same question. But Cowell quickly fired back at Walliams and asked him “Well, why aren’t you married?”.
The talent show will return for its tenth series later this year.
Simon Cowell has said he and his fellow judges on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams, would never work again if people knew how ‘naughty’ they are backstage. The music mogul said that while the team enjoy having a laugh on stage and on screen, backstage the humour can get very x-rated.
Simon Cowell says things can get very naughty backstage at ‘BGT’.
Speaking to The Mirror, Cowell said: “I’m not even going there, seriously. It’s bad! Very naughty. We’d never work again if it went out. That’s how we say goodbye to Got Talent – ‘And this is what we didn’t broadcast…’”
