British actor David Tennant has declared his love for Scottish rockers The Proclaimers by writing a foreword for the group's 25th anniversary album.

The former Doctor Who star has penned a heartfelt tribute for the duo's The Very Best Of compilation record, revealing he idolised the band as a teenager and even walked down the aisle to one of their songs when he married actress Georgia Moffett in 2011.

Tennant writes, "I fell in love with this music, and this odd, unstyled, unlikely duo with a passion that has never dimmed to this day. Nobody else sounds like the Proclaimers and nobody else writes songs like these... Joyful Kilmarnock Blues was my teenage anthem, I walked down the aisle to Life With You, every great night out I have ever had has included I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles). These songs have been the soundtrack to my life."
