British actor David Oyelowo panicked on the set of Oscar-tipped movie Lincoln when he realised a scheduling clash meant he was simultaneously due to shoot scenes with Tom Cruise hundreds of miles away.
The Spooks star spent several weeks filming with Cruise on blockbuster Jack Reacher in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but he took time out of the shoot to head to Richmond, Virginia to spend several days working with Daniel Day-Lewis and Steven Spielberg on the acclaimed historical drama.
However, Cruise didn't realise Oyelowo would be away and scheduled an important car chase scene - forcing the actor to leave the Lincoln set and race back to Pittsburgh in time to shoot the action sequence.
He tells Britain's The Independent Magazine, "Nobody had told Tom (I was going to be away). I was in Richmond, Virginia, with Daniel Day-Lewis and Spielberg having the time of my life and I start getting these calls saying, 'Tom's really excited about this car chase tonight and I was, 'What are you talking about? I'm here (in Virginia)' - and I'm not going to be the one to tell Spielberg I'm leaving. Goodness knows what happened behind the scenes, but I was on a jet that took me straight to Pittsburgh and I walked straight into that car chase."
