The Ultimate Life Trailer

Jason Stevens now runs a multi-billion dollar company after his wealthy grandfather left him more than just a hefty inheritance in his will. He also left him twelve 'gifts' which persuaded Jason to turn his life around and become a better, more useful, member of society. However, he still seems to have a lot of life lessons to learn as his constant prioritising of work puts a strain on his relationship with Alexia, a doctor who is determined to take a charitable trip to Haiti to work at an underdeveloped clinic there. Unfortunately, Jason misses this completely and panics when he goes home and she's nowhere to be found. He goes to the only person he can think of; Ted Hamilton, the family attorney; who decides to show Jason his grandfather's diary detailing his story of wealth, how it started from nothing and how it ended with nothing.

Madea Goes to Jail Review

OK
For playwright and filmmaker Tyler Perry, the character of Mabel "Madea" Simmons has always been his entertainment trump card, his anarchic ace in the hole, so to speak. The loud-mouthed, gun-toting, pot-smoking grandma with a wealth of attitude and a penchant for pop culture cross-references has always been his audience window, his way for even the most jaded member of his revival like crowd to connect to his "Go with God" morality tales.

Over the last few years, however, Perry (who plays the bossy battleaxe in full blown comic drag) has tried to wean his fan base off of Madea. She was absent from his last film (The Family that Preys) and had only a minor cameo in Meet the Browns. But now she's back, and while Madea Goes to Jail is wholly watchable, it's also an uneven experience.

Meet the Browns Review

Grim
Whenever anyone mentions Tyler Perry, two questions almost always enter the conversation: Why is he so popular, and when will his 15 minutes of unearned fame finally end? The first is easy to answer -- it's all about preaching to a truly underserved demographic. The second issue is more complicated. While audiences still line up for his theatrical works, his films have been finding less and less acceptance at the box office. That trend will probably continue with his most recent turn behind the camera, the so-called comedy Meet the Browns.

Hard working Brenda (Angela Bassett) is at the end of her rope. She's lost her job, she can't afford to feed her kids, and her basketball-playing son is responding to the lure of the streets. Then she learns that the father she never met has just died. His funeral is in Georgia, and the relatives have sent bus tickets so she can attend. After saying goodbye to her Latina friend Cheryl (Sofia Vergara), she heads down South.
