It's probably the most uninformative trailer of the year, but a new teaser for the upcoming third season of 'Twin Peaks' has arrived just to remind us of its imminent approach. It features creator David Lynch, being very Lynch, which suggests he'll make a return cameo in the new series.

To the famous theme tune of the series, David Lynch munches a damn good glazed donut with a look of pure concentration on his face in the new trailer for 'Twin Peaks'. It seems he will reprise his cameo role of FBI chief Gordon Cole. It's not unusual of David Lynch to share little of a story's plot in a trailer, but we're amazed at how mesmerizing it is to watch him eating sugary goods.

More returning cast members include Kyle MacLachlan (Agent Dale Cooper), Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs), Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), Everett McGill (Ed Hurley), Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Moran), Russ Tamblyn (Dr. Lawrence Jacoby), Ray Wise (Leland Palmer), Grace Zabriskie (Sarah Palmer) and Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne). Catherine E. Coulson also makes a return appearance as the Log Lady, though it was her last time because she died during development in 2015.

New arrivals that are expected to make appearances in at least one episode include Michael Cera, Laura Dern, Sky Ferreira, Caleb Landry Jones, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth, Amanda Seyfried, Sharon Van Etten, Eddie Vedder, Naomi Watts and Trent Reznor.

'Twin Peaks' follows a detective's arrival to a mysterious town to untangle a murder mystery that develops into a bizarre and almost supernatural charade where everyone is a suspect. It first aired between 1990 and 1991 and went on to win three Golden Globes and two Primetime Emmy Awards. A prequel feature film entitled 'Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me' was released in 1992.

The revival series will arrive on Showtime in 2017.
