David Lee Roth suffered a nasty cut to the nose on Monday evening, as Van Halen staged a gig live on Hollywood Boulevard in a performance taped for Jimmy Kimmel's talk show. The singer sustained the injury when he hit himself with his microphone stand while twirling it around during the band’s opening number.

But Roth wasn’t going to let some blood interfere with his performance and after going offstage to receive a bandage the singer returned and continued on as if nothing had happened. The band were promoting their new live album, ‘Tokyo Dome Live in Concert’ and recently announced summer tour. But the performance actually held much more significance.

Manny Roth, club owner and New York legend, has died at age 94. He was the owner of the Greenwich Village establishment Café Wha?, heavily frequented by the likes of Bob Dylan, Jimmy Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen and many others back in the 60s. Besides his own notoriety as a colorful club owner, Roth was also the uncle of Van Halen guitarist David Lee Roth.
