David Hasselhoff's girlfriend Hayley Roberts laughed the first two times he proposed to her but says she may consent to marrying him in the future.
David Hasselhoff's girlfriend "laughed" when he proposed to her.
The 59-year-old actor has been dating former shop assistant Hayley Roberts for eight months and has already asked her to marry him four times, though she hasn't accepted.
Recalling the proposals, Hayley said: "The first time was on a beautiful beach in South Africa. David got down on one knee and asked me. I just laughed. I didn't think he meant it, because there was no ring and I thought it was a spur-of-the-moment thing. Actually, if I'd said yes I thought he might have had a heart attack.
"The second time, he was getting ready in the dressing room at the awards show. Again, I didn't say no - I just laughed.
"[The third time] we were swimming in a cage surrounded by Sharks, which was scary. When we came out of the water he asked me again. I was too cold to answer.
"Another time, we were on safari and he got out of the car, stood in front of an elephant and asked if I'd marry him. That time I didn't laugh. I was screaming because I could see the elephant was about to charge towards him."
Despite refusing his repeated proposals, Hayley admits she can see herself marrying the former 'Baywatch' star in the future.
She told Reveal magazine: "Why rush into something so soon? We've only been together eight months and we're still learning about each other.
"I think two years down the line, things will be different as they won't be so early and new. I want him to ask my parents and get their permission. Once he's done that, and got a ring, I'll know he means it.
"David's the one I want to be with and spent all my time with right now."
