Cult director David Cronenberg will be awarded a lifetime achievement award at the 2005 STOCKHOLM INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL in November (05).

Organisers announced this week (16MAY05) the Canadian will be presented with the Bronze Horse Award for "mind-blowing visual aesthetic", that has "penetrated mass phenomena in modern society as well as the mind and body of the individual".

Cronenberg is most famous for directing movies The Fly, NAKED LUNCH and CRASH.

The award was handed to Oliver Stone last year. Previous winners include fellow filmmakers Roman Polanski, David Lynch and actresses Lauren Bacall and Gena Rowlands.
