Lily Allen Brands David Cameron "Reckless" For Resigning After Brexit

Lily Allen David Cameron Boris Johnson

Singer Lily Allen has hit out at David Cameron on Twitter for stepping down as Prime Minister after the EU referendum result. Allen, who previously voiced her support for the Remain campaign, has said that following Thursday’s vote she is now ‘Brexit’, as that’s what the majority voted for.

Lily AllenLily Allen has been voicing her views on Brexit and David Cameron.

On Saturday the singer tweeted: “I can't actually see any individual being brave enough to trigger article 50. It's career suicide.” Allen then explained she now supported Brexit because it’s what democracy had voted for and not because she’d done a political ‘u-turn’, as some accused her of.

John OliverJohn Oliver has given a damming critique of the EU referendum result.

David Cameron Tries, And Fails, To Recreate Beatles Cover At Abbey Road Studio

David Cameron Beatles

David Cameron and his E.U. Remain campaign ally Tessa Jowell have awkwardly attempted to re-create the front cover of The Beatles’ Abbey Road as they visited the famous studio – and jokes and puns immediately began to pour in via social media.

The Conservative Prime Minister visited the iconic studios in north-west London on Friday morning in order to praise Britain’s creative industries, on the same day that nearly 300 people from the arts and entertainment world signed a letter urging people to vote for the Remain campaign.

Squeeze Change Song Lyrics To Protest Against David Cameron Live On Television

Squeeze David Cameron

British band Squeeze sent a clear message to Prime Minister David Cameron on Sunday’s edition of the ‘Andrew Marr Show’ when they changed song lyrics to criticise the ‘destruction of the welfare state’. The band appeared as the musical guests on the programme, which also featured Cameron giving his traditional new year interview.

When the band performed new song ‘From the Cradle to the Grave’, founding member Glenn Tilbrook sang a different version of the final verse as Cameron watched on. ‘I grew up in council housing, Part of what made Britain great, There are some here who are hellbent, On the destruction of the welfare state.’

Gary Barlow's Charity Work Enough To Retain OBE, Insists David Cameron

Gary Barlow David Cameron Take That

David Cameron isn’t doing much to shake his ‘help the rich, ignore the poor’ reputation. The British Prime Minister has insisted that Gary Barlow – who is facing sanctions over alleged tax avoidance – should keep his OBE after the chair of the Commons Public Accounts Committee Margaret Hodge had suggested Barlow "might show a bit of contrition” by giving it back, the BBC reports.

It has recently emerged that Barlow – alongside fellow Take That members Howard Donald and Mark Owen and manager Jonathan Wild - had put money into a scheme ruled to be set up for tax avoidance purposes.

What Does Russell Brand Think Of David Cameron? Have A Guess

Russell Brand David Cameron

While Russell Brand’s thoughts on British Prime Minister are pretty easy to predict, it’s funny to actually hear them. The 38-year-old comedian was forthright with his opinions on the man charged with looking after a nation, and he used bad words.

Russell BrandRussell Brand didn't hold anything back

A guest on Alan Carr’s Channel 4 comedy talk show, Chatty Man, Brand had license to be candid. An interview on the BBC wouldn’t have allowed such opinion to be openly aired. We’ll cut to the chase, he called him a “posh w--nker”.

Jeremy Paxman Scolds David Cameron For Celebrating Catastrophic WWI

Jeremy Paxman David Cameron

Jeremy Paxman has criticised Prime Minister David Cameron for comments he made about Britain celebrating the centenary of World War I. In a speech in October, Mr Cameron said he wanted to see "commemoration that, like the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, says something about who we are as a people."

Newsnight presenter Paxman told the Radio Times that the centenary events should "have almost nothing in common" with the Jubilee. The Prime Minister had promised a "truly national commemoration" in 2014 to mark 100 years since the outbreak of the war and the dates of the major battles.

The sharp-tongued Paxman, whose great uncle died in the war, said that "not to acknowledge the war's significance would be wilful myopia," though warned that the "the whole catastrophe has been overlain with myth and legend."

Stephen Fry Demands Russian Winter Olympics Ban Over Anti-Gay Laws In Letter To PM

Stephen Fry David Cameron

TV presenter and comedian Stephen Fry has spoken out against the Russian Federation's new harsh anti-Gay law that even forbids the discussion of homosexuality around young people under 18. In an open letter to UK Prime Minister David Cameron, the Olympic Committee (IOC) and Lord Sebastian Coe, Fry urges that Russia be banned from the 2014 Winter Olympics, disparaging the country's laws as "shaven headed thuggery and bigoted religion."

If the Winter Olympics in Russia went ahead, rule six of the code of the Olympic Movement would indeed be flouted, as Fry quotes in his letter: "[The IOC should] Act against any form of discrimination affecting the Olympic Movement."

David Cameron Gives Romantic Mixtape To G8 Leaders, Who's On It?

Prime Minister David Cameron has promoted young British musicians by giving all the G8 leaders a 10-track USB stick containing songs from Alt-J, Conor Maynard, Laura Mvula and Gabrielle Aplin with a very prominent theme of love.

Perhaps the Tory party leader is attempting to up his "cool" factor or seem down with the kids - the voters of tomorrow - having also recently been seen at Oxfordshire's Cornbury Festival and regularly sharing his music taste with reporters. The ten songs weren't selected by the busy PM however, rather the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) assembled the tracklist presented to each of the G8 leaders on a USB stick.

Did Kate Middleton Need David Cameron To Defend Her Against Hilary Mantel's Remarks?

Kate Middleton David Cameron Hilary Mantel

Hilary Mantel swiftly became the darling of the literary world late last year as she won her second Booker Prize with Bring Up the Bodies, the second in a historical trilogy about Thomas Cromwell and the Tudor family, But her popularity on a broad scale has been knocked today as the comments she made about Kate Middleton being 'plastic and 'machine made' for breeding came to light, the BBC reports.

Mantel's speech, at a lecture last month, was if nothing else, delightfully eloquent. Perhaps her greatest downfall was to compare her in so biased a manner to Prince William's mother, Princess Diana. "[Kate] appears precision-made, machine-made, so different from Diana whose human awkwardness and emotional incontinence showed in her every gesture," the author said.

Jumping to Kate's defence, Prime Minister David Cameron spoke on the matter: "What I've seen of Princess Kate at public events, at the Olympics and elsewhere is this is someone who's bright, who's engaging, who's a fantastic ambassador for Britain. We should be proud of that, rather than make these rather misguided remarks."

One Direction Go Punk... And Invite David Cameron To Join Them?

One Direction David Cameron Blondie The Undertones

One Direction are taking an unusual… direction… for their next music video. Recorded in aid of Comic Relief, the teen boy band have decided to release a mash-up of two punk classics – Blondie’s ‘One Way Or Another’ and The Undertones’ ‘Teenage Kicks.’ The music video for the fundraiser single will feature a very special guest, in the form of the UK Prime Minister David Cameron.

As hideous as this all may sound, the new single’s raising money for a very good cause, so we’ll gloss over the content and focus on the cause. The government has already agreed to make a donation to Comic Relief to cancel out any VAT that would normally be paid on the single’s sales, The Guardian reports. David Cameron tweeted that he enjoyed filming his cameo in the video and posted a snap of himself and the One Direction lads standing outside Number 10 Downing Street, adding “Glad to help with the filming location.”

Not all of the video was filmed in Downing Street though – the boys also headed to Accra in Ghana and to Japan to film scenes there as well. No word so far on whether Cameron’s a fan of the band… or indeed, whether the 1D boys are fans of the Tory party. As charitable as this political hook-up is, however, it somehow lacks the edge of Tony Blair getting knee-deep in the Britpop scene back in the ‘90s. The video is scheduled to air this Thursday (February 21, 2013).

David Cameron Sells Justin Bieber In Tory Party Auction

Justin Bieber David Cameron

Exclusive backstage access to Justin Bieber has been auctioned off by David Cameron in an effort to raise money for his future election campaigns.

The British government are clearly running out of ideas for money making schemes and it looks like the current economic crisis has gone to the Prime Minister's head. In a bid to take in a bit of cash for his Conservative Party promotions in the next election, Cameron has auctioned off an exclusive meeting with teen popstar Justin Bieber for over £10,000 to one wealthy benefactor at his annual Black and White Party. There's just one issue though; Bieber didn't know about it. Yep, the poor star had no idea that one squealing daughter of some high-up conservative backer was going to be waiting for him backstage at his London O2 Arena show on March 7th 2013. Don't worry though, it was his British label Universal Music UK that donated the privilege so we're sure he's been duly informed now. Still, that doesn't mean he'll be agreeable to the idea of his being used as a money making tool by the British government and, in his current and well-publicized rebellious phase, who knows what his reaction might be!

A spokesperson from Universal Music told The Sun that he 'wouldn't expect to be informed' about something like that, but a Labour Party MP Steve McCabe has branded the Tories 'cynical' in their decision.

Male Heavy Nominations For NME's Heroes And Villains Inc. Bradley Wiggins, Barack Obama, David Cameron And Harry Styles

Frank Ocean Barack Obama Harry Styles David Cameron Pussy Riot Azealia Banks Dave Grohl Bradley Wiggins David Bowie Skrillex Psy

The NME awards isn't just to praise the biggest and best bands of the year, it is also a platform for popular social commentary, and for a hefty dose of good humored judgement. The categories of Heroes and Villains are a tidy round up of the stars that have done the best and worst work over the year.

This year's Villain nominations include the obvious choice of David Cameron, but he's facing stiff competition in the form of Harry Styles, Skrillex, Psy, Fred Macpherson and Azealia Banks. Styles being in One Direction (nominated for worst band) is reason enough to be in the list, and Azealia Banks tweeted feud with fellow female rapper Angel Haze in which she used a homophobic slur against Haze certainly makes her a baddy. But as for Fred Macpherson's appearance in the list, we can't quite work out why he's been included, Spector aren't that bad.

The Hero's list is a far better list and there's no question as to why any of the nominees are included. Dave Grohl brought Nirvana back with the help of Paul McCartney - even if you don't agree with the choice of McCartney, it was a great feat, and Grohl never fails to give his all to music and to an enormous range of bands. Pussy Riot went to prison for speaking openly about LGBT and feminist topics. Frank Ocean brazenly came out in a predominantly heterosexual and largely homophobic hip hop community during 2012, confessing to having fallen in love with a man. Bradley Wiggins is Bradley Wiggins. Barack Obama is Barack Obama. And David Bowie is back. Happy days.

Thom Yorke Issues Warning To David Cameron On Using Radiohead

Thom Yorke Keane David Cameron

Thom Yorke has said that he would "sue the living shit" out of David Cameron if he used any Radiohead songs for the Conservative election campaign. "I can't say I love the idea of a banker liking our music, or David Cameron," he added in an interview with Drowned in Sound.

"But I also equally think, who cares? As long as he doesn't use it for his election campaigns, I don't care. I'd sue the living shit out of him if he did. I can't believe he'd like [Radiohead album] King of Limbs much," he added. The 44-year-old frontman did however say that he disagreed with musicians like Keane, Morrissey and Paul Weller for openly castigating politicians for enjoying their music.

Amok by Atoms for Peace, released on 25 February, is the first album Yorke has made with a full band other than Radiohead. The musician, however, sounds mildly dissatisfied with Atom, calling it "not dancey enough" adding:  "It's not like The Eraser [his 2006 solo album]. But it's not a band album either. It doesn't sound like a band playing ... We wanted to go into the song realm, because it felt good to do that. If it were up to me, every track would be 10 minutes long."

People In Glass Houses... Nadine Dorries Accuses Heart Surgery MP Of Slacking Off

David Cameron I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here

Oh, Nadine Dorries… have you not heard that little fable about people in glass houses? No? OK, well they’re definitely not advised to start throwing stones and if they are going to throw stones, they should probably make sure they get their facts straight first, so those stones don’t turn out to be boomerangs and come flying right back in their face.

In response to the Labour MP Steve McCabe’s criticism of her neglecting her ministerial duties to appear on the reality TV show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, Dorries said to McCabe “I think with your 63 per cent attendance record, you should be quiet. Obviously been taking a few holidays of your own!” What Nadine Dorries had failed to do before leveling such accusations at McCabe was do any kind of investigation into why he’d not attended parliament. His response, on Twitter, was to say “Imagine equating time off for open heart surgery with a paid for holiday on a reality TV show. Says all we need to know.”

Nadine Dorries is certainly not doing herself any favours. In fact, we’re not sure what would have been a worse outcome for her; to be kept in the jungle and make a fool of herself on national television and risk any semblance of a good reputation that she may have had, or to have been kicked out, to make a fool of herself in the real world instead. We reckon she’s best of laying low and switching off the internet for a while, if she’s got any sense.

I'm A Celebrity's Nadine Dorries Inspired 'Blonde, Hoppy' Ale

David Cameron

I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here contestant Nadine Dorries caused a real parliamentary stir when she took a couple of weeks off to appear on the ITV1 reality show, though it appears not all of her constituents are angry at the decision.

In honour of their MP's appearance on the jungle reality show, local Bedfordshire brewery Banks & Taylor has produced a very special bitter. Coming in at reasonable strength of 4.1%, 'Mad Nad Ale' is described as blonde, hoppy and having a citrus finish. Dorries constituents should be able to help themselves to a glass or two of the ale this weekend, given the brewery is just 100 yards from her office. Martin Ayers of Banks & Taylor told IBTimes.com, "We are always looking to bring out new beers.Dorries is our MP and we're based in Shefford in the heart of her constituency, where she would be if she was not in Australia. We thought we'd bring out a bitter to celebrate her absence," adding, "It is a bitter which is apt, considering how people feel about her not being here to represent her constituents. If she would like to try a pint, she would be very welcome to do so."

There certainly was plenty of bitterness over Dorries' appearance on the show; she was suspended from duty by Prime Minster David Cameron. Saying that, it won't bother her: she once described the PM and George Osborne as "out of touch rich boys."

'Gangnam Style' Gets Royal Treatment, Zara Phillips Dances For Children In Need

Zara Phillips Psy Boris Johnson David Cameron

Zara Phillips and her fellow Team GB equestrian team members will be dancing ‘Gangnam Style’ to raise money for Children in Need.

The Royal Olympian and granddaughter to the Queen will be dancing in full equestrian kit, to the strains of Psy’s surprise electro-pop hit, which has spawned many an imitation (one of which got a group of lifeguards fired from their jobs, no less), The Telegraph reports.

‘Gangnam Style’ became a viral hit this summer and has now been viewed over 658 million times on YouTube. Now, it gets the royal seal of approval, as Princess Anne’s daughter, along with Tina Cook and Nicola Wilson, will perform their very own brand of the now-legendary dance as part of the BBC’s evening of charity-focused entertainment. Fittingly, the dance itself features a mime of someone pretending to ride a horse and spinning a lasso. That first bit, at least, should be a doddle for the Equestrian Event team, who will release the video on Monday (November 12, 2012), ahead of the annual Children in Need telethon, which will take place on Friday (November 16, 2012).

Calling Tony Blair: Nicole Scherzinger Thinks You're Still Prime Minister

Nicole Scherzinger David Cameron Tony Blair

Nicole Scherzinger, a judge on the UK's X Factor, who's currently dating British Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton, has admitted she had no idea who David Cameron was. The former Pussycat Dolls star actually met the Prime Minister at the Pride of Britain Awards earlier this week, though had to be told who he was.

In fact, Scherzinger has revealed to The Mirror that she asked one of Cameron's aides where 'Prime Minister' Blair was. "I didn't know who he was," she said, adding, "They said they were introducing me to the Prime Minister and he came over, and I was like, 'Where's Tony Blair?' I thought it was still him. Someone had to tell me. I was a real ass." Earlier this week at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards, Scherzinger said she absolutely loved Prince Charles' Pride of Britain speech. "He is gangsta!" she said, "He's a prince! He basically got up on stage and said: 'The UK's the s***.' I was like: Yeah!"

The X Factor star created waves at the event after chugging down on a pint of beer while her showbiz pals sipped wine. Thumbs up from us!
