David Bowie's HEROES has beaten tracks by Queen and the Bee Gees to top a poll as the best British song of the past 25 years.

Listeners of BBC station RADIO 2 selected Bowie's 1977 classic as their favourite song, while Queen's WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS came second.

Third-placed Kate Bush is the only woman to make the top ten, which she did with her debut release WUTHERING HEIGHTS.
