Soccer ace David Beckham has been fined $1,000 (£665) by Major League Soccer (MLS) officials for confronting an unruly Los Angeles Galaxy fan during a heated match last weekend.
The British sports star returned to play for L.A. Galaxy earlier this month (Jul09) after a brief spell on loan to Italian side AC Milan.
But a section of the crowd were determined to make it clear they were unhappy at rumours Beckham is planning to quit the club for good and booed him throughout last Sunday's (19Jul09) game - ironically against AC Milan.
One man even evaded security to taunt Beckham from the side of the pitch - prompting the star to run up to the barrier and challenge him.
Beckham had to be restrained by L.A. Galaxy officials as the fan was removed from the grounds and the star later claimed he simply wanted to shake the man's hand to get him to calm down.
But MLS executives have failed to see the incident from Beckham's point of view and have slapped him with a hefty fine for losing control.
