Following their separation in 2010, David Arquette has finally filed for divorce from Courteney Cox. Yesterday (June 12, 2012) Tmz posted images of the divorce documents online, with 'irreconcilable differences' being given as the cause of the divorce. The actor filed the divorce papers last Friday (June 8, 2012) before jetting off to Israel to film a travel show.
In the divorce, David has requested joint custody of his and Courteney's daughter, Coco, who turns eight years old today. No mention of the division of their joint property has been made. David has not requested a lawyer for the divorce proceedings and will be representing himself. It looks as though he's been sitting on the papers for a few months, as he originally signed them on March 23, 2012.
David and Courteney married on June 12, 1999, after they met filming the horror movie 'Scream'. When they announced their separation in 2010, they maintained that they were still "best friends" and this still appears to be the case. At the time of the separation, they released a joint statement saying "The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage." Last year, they appeared on Howard Stern's radio show together, talking about their marriage and separation. Whilst David hinted that he would consider a reunion, Courteney was adamant that it wouldn't be a good idea.
