Singer David Archuleta has signed up to star in a Filipino TV series before he embarks on his Mormon missionary service.
The former American Idol winner recently announced plans to put his music career on hold to focus on his religious work with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
But Archuleta isn't quite ready to leave the spotlight - he's landed a role in a TV series on the Philippines' Tv5 network.
The pop star will arrive in the Southeast Asian country on Friday (13Jan12) to begin working on the show.
A statement from Tv5 reads, "The signing of an international star of Archuleta's youth and talent, arguably in his prime, is bound to shake up the Philippine entertainment industry."
Filipino actresses Jasmin Curtis-Smith and Eula Caballero have also been cast in the programme.
