Rocker Dave Grohl has been hailed the unlikely inspiration for Shadows Fall's debut album after surprising the group with an impromptu visit during a recent recording session. The metal band borrowed the drummer's Studio 606 in Northridge, California to record 13 tracks for their major-label debut THREADS OF LIFE. But frontman BRIAN FAIR admits the group were struggling until the Foo Fighters star's unexpected visit with a bottle of Icelandic schnapps. Fair tells MTV, "It still blows my mind when, randomly, Dave Grohl pops in with a bottle and he's like, 'Hey dudes - we're partying.' "It's cool just sitting around, talking old DC hardcore. And he's just stoked to have a metal band recording in his studio. "He comes by and hangs out, and rocks out to what we're doing."
