Data Romance released their new single, 'The Deep' in digital format in on June 7th (2011) and physically this week (July 12th 2011). The single is taken from their debut self-titled EP and will also be featured on their upcoming un-named album which will be out at the end of the year.
The music video for the single was directed by Alistair Legrand (who has also directed videos for dream-pop band Beach House) and features Memphis based dance artist Lil Buck and two dancers from the New Styles Krew. The video is shot in black and white and captures perfectly the mood of the song. Alistair Legrand says of the video, 'I just wanted to shoot monsters having a dance battle.'
Ajay Bhattacharyya and Amy Kirkpatrick formed Data Romance in 2009 after a chance meeting in their hometown of Victoria, on Canada's Vancouver Island. Amy had moved to use her lighting training to work at some of the biggest clubs in Vancouver, while Ajay had moved to study sound design for film. Amy named the band after a lyric by. Berlin techno iconoclast Ellen Allien.
