Comic book adaptation THE Fantastic Four has gone straight to the top of the UK box office, knocking animation caper MADAGASCAR off the number one spot.
The action movie, starring Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, Michael Chiklis and Chris Evans, took an acceptable $6.3 million (GBP3.5 million) in takings over the weekend (22-24JUL05), only two weeks after hitting the number one spot in the US box office.

Comic book adaptation Fantastic Four has crashed into first place with a $56 million (GBP31.1 million) opening, while previous number ones WAR OF THE WORLDS and Batman BEGINS refuse to leave the top three.
Tom Cruise's alien invasion film made an additional $31.3 million (GBP17.4 million) in its second week on release to fall to second, while the latest Batman movie has topped $170 million (GBP94.4 million) with a third week tally of $10.2 million (GBP5.66 million).
