Danny Boyle made new movie Trance while he was overseeing the London Olympics Opening Ceremony in a bid to avoid going "stir crazy" on just one project.

The director was given two years to create the 2012 extravaganza, but he insisted on building shoots for his latest film into his schedule to vary his workload.

He tells Britain's Sunday Express, "I would spend Thursday and Friday working on the Olympics and then I could look forward to doing shoot-outs and raids and nudity from Saturday through Wednesday. It was great fun and lovely to do something irresponsible and dark and it reinvigorated me in a weird way."
