Waters dropped out of Hollywood for nearly a decade before reviving himself to write and direct the largely forgotten Happy Campers. After another six year hiatus he returned again with Sex and Death 101, which has the distinction of reuniting Waters with Heathers star Winona Ryder... who's been through her own travails, as well.

What they generally aren't is full of capers designed by crackheads in search of comic relief, or a dominatrix dying to destroy the gold market with a Da Vinci alchemy machine only a cat burglar from Hoboken could steal.

Winona Ryder's "psychopathic tendencies" helped the actress land a starring role in director Daniel Waters' forthcoming movie.
Waters, who worked with the actress on the film HEATHERS, says Ryder was the perfect choice to play a psychopathic character in his new film, SEX AND DEATH 101.
He says, "I needed a psychopath who was sweet, warm, and funny - and that's basically Winona.
"She's like an Audrey Hepburn that's been dropped off the table and has a crack in it."
Christian Slater and Winona Ryder are re-teaming for a sequel to cult film HEATHERS.
Ryder has signed on for the project, as well as Slater, despite the fact he dies in the first film.
Slater played bad boy JASON 'JD' DEAN in the movie where he helps Ryder take revenge on a group of popular girls - all named Heather.
Ryder tells Entertainment Weekly, "I don't know how much is official; it's a way away.
"But it takes place in Washington and Christian Slater agreed to come back and make an OBI-WAN-type appearance. It's very funny."
Ryder is currently working with Heathers writer Daniel Waters on the film SEX AND DEATH 101.
Walters has already agreed write the sequel and may also direct the film.
Winona Ryder is set to make her big screen comeback as a femme fatale in new romantic comedy SEX AND DEATH 101. The HEATHERS star will play media sensation and urban legend DEATH NELL in the movie, which is currently being directed by Daniel Waters. In the film, Ryder will play one of Aussie actor Simon Baker's many conquests, who freak him out when they appear on a mysterious email that lists all of his past, present and future sexual partners. Baker's character is keen to avoid a romance with Ryder's Nell, despite the fact her name appears on the list, because she is famous for seducing men she declares guilty of sex crimes against women, and then putting them into fairy-tale-style comas. Australian pop sensation Sophie Monk and US TV star Julie Bowen appear among the other ladies on Baker's conquests list.
Never before has murder been so much fun than at the hands of Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, perfectly cast as foils for one another in one of the blackest comedies on film. A must-see for the Gen-X set, Heathers is a scathing lambasting of the American teen in the late 1980s, but its presence will be timeless.

Gotham was dark and so was the script. Darkly comic, darkly romantic, and darkly dramatic. This tale told of Michael Keaton as Batman in a love/hate relationship with Catwoman, of a freak raised by penguins, of a power hungry industry giant who sought to leave the legacy of a polluting power plant. The Penguin: a man raised by what became his namesake, seeks to discover the identity of his parents, and then exact vengeance upon the world. Selina Kyle was a lowly secretary who got pushed out of a window for opening her mouth: exhausting one of nine lives, and then becoming Catwoman. And Bruce Wayne was a man haunted by his past and compelled to fight crime at night as Batman.
