Daniel Radcliffe claims to have quit drinking because he became too "reliant" on alcohol during the filming of the last few Harry Potter movies. Radcliffe admits his lifestyle started to become an issue, particularly on the set of the 2009 smash hit 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'.
During an interview with GQ Magazine, the young actor reveals, "I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff. There were a few years there when I was just so enamoured with the idea of living some sort of famous person's lifestyle that really isn't suited to me". The 21-year-old claims to have been tee-total since wrapping up the final Potter movie in August 2010, electing to skip his most recent movie premiere party to watch "the Discovery Channel ... (with) a bowl of Sugar Puffs". Radcliffe says his new lifestyle is far more suited to his personality, saying, "I'm actually enjoying the fact that I can have a relationship with my girlfriend where I'm really pleasant and not fucked up totally all the time". The actor rose to international prominence after being selected from thousands of young hopefuls to play the part of the boy wizard in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The franchise has since grossed a total of 6 billion dollars worldwide, with Radcliffe himself said to have earned an estimated $80 million.
Daniel Radcliffe is currently starring in the Broadway play, "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying". He recently completed shooting the forthcoming drama-horror 'The Woman in Black', about a young lawyer who travels to a remote village to organise the papers of his recently deceased client.
