American singer/songwriter Daniel Johnston has cancelled his European tour due to depression.
The troubled ALMOST GOT HIT BY A TRUCK hitmaker was due to perform at the Benicassim music festival on the Spanish coast on Sunday (07AUG05), but his family announced on Friday (05AUG05) he was unable to commit to the remainder of his tour.
On his official website, a statement says, "His family agrees that mood changes seem to be surfacing that limit is capacity to cope with all the activity. The cancellations have far-reaching and regrettable consequences, and Daniel offers his apologies for the sudden changes."
Johnston was also due to appear at the British premiere of his forthcoming documentary THE DEVIL AND DANIEL JOHNSTON at the end of August (30AUG05).
