Daniel Day-Lewis hasn't spoken to his half-brother for almost a decade after he contributed to an unauthorised 1994 biography about the actor.

Former journalist Sean Day-Lewis, 81, helped author Garry Jenkins pen Daniel Day-Lewis: The Fire Within, which revealed intimate details about the Oscar winner's personal and professional life.

The actor felt betrayed by the project and the book put an end to his relationship with his brother.

Sean tells the National Enquirer, "I wanted him (Jenkins) to get the facts right, and he didn't even do that. He got birthdays on the wrong days. It was full of errors. Anyway, he acknowledged my help in the foreword, and Dan saw that and completely blew me out of the water... That was in 1994, and that was our last conversation."
