He may be best known as 007, but Daniel Craig has been making movies for three decades. Here are five of our favourites.
As the latest 007 outing, Spectre, draws ever closer, we're taking a look back at five films from Daniel Craig's varied big-screen career - none of which involve the iconic superspy in a suit.
1. Layer Cake (2004)
Daniel Craig looking Bond-like in Layer Cake
This fondly remembered crime thriller was the directorial debut for Matthew Vaughn, of Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class and, most recently, Kingsman fame. Daniel Craig plays a man known only as XXXX, a cocaine dealer who's handed two tough assignments from his boss on the eve of his planned early retirement. Sienna Miller, Michael Gambon and Tom Hardy also feature in a great cast.
2. Road to Perdition (2002)
Craig as mobster Connor Rooney
Long before Sam Mendes worked with Daniel Craig on Skyfall (and this year's Spectre, of course), the Oscar-winning director brought this captivating crime noir, based on the graphic novel, to the big screen. Tom Hanks stars as a mob enforcer who seeks revenge against gangster Craig, who murdered his wife and youngest son. Paul Newman and Jude Law also star.
3. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
Craig investigates a mystery in Dragon Tattoo
David Fincher was the man given the task of directing this English-language remake of the Swedish film, based on the novel of the same name. Daniel Craig is journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who investigates the disappearance of a wealthy woman 40 years earlier, with the help of a young computer hacker played - to much acclaim - by Rooney Mara.
4. Infamous (2006)
Craig being carted off as convict Perry Smith
Arriving in cinemas just months after Philip Seymour Hoffman won an Oscar for his portrayal of Truman Capote, writer/director Douglas McGrath released his own biopic of the author. Daniel Craig plays Perry Smith, the convicted murderer who developed a complicated relationship with Capote (Toby Jones) behind bars. Disappointingly, Infamous took just $2.6million at the global box office.
5. Defiance (2008)
Craig stars as Tuvia Bielski in Defiance
Dividing the critics on its release, this well-acted Second World War drama was set during the occupation of Belarus by Nazi Germany. Daniel Craig is joined by Liev Schreiber, Jamie Bell and George MacKay as the Bielski brothers, who fought to rescue Jews from extermination during the conflict.
