The National Board Of Review Awards took place last night (January 8, 2013), with many evidently viewing the bash as a warm-up before the Oscar nominations get announced tomorrow (January 10, 2013). As such, some of the names who may well be featuring in less than 24 hours time were on the red carpet, including Skyfall's Daniel Craig, Argo director and actor Ben Affleck, stars from Les Miserables including Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried, and many more.
There were also some newcomers to the Hollywood red carpet scene in attendance. Jason Clarke has been acting for several years now, but it's only recently the Australian actor really broke into the upper echelons of the big leagues. Appearing in Lawless last year, the 43 year-old has high profile roles forthcoming with the release of Zero Dark Thirty and Great Gatsby this year. At the much younger end of the scale, Quvenzhane Wallis looks set to be a name on everybody's lips - even if they have a little trouble pronouncing it - after the nine year-old played a starring role in the critically acclaimed Beasts Of The Southern Wild (another film which may have Oscar aspirations.)
According to Vogue, Les Miserables took the Best Ensemble Cast - which would explain why they turned out in such numbers - and was also named as one of the Top Films of the year alongside Argo, Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Lincoln, Looper and Promised Land. We're expecting most of those to be in the running come Oscar announcement time tomorrow.
Tom Hooper [Left] will be expecting big things in the Oscar nominations tomorrow for his film Les Miserables, while [Right] Benh Zeitlin could continue his surprise run after Beasts Of The Southern Wild took the Camera d'Or at least year's Cannes Film Festival
