Daniel Craig only accepted the role of suave superspy James Bond after Steven Spielberg reassured him he wouldn't be typecast by the part. Spielberg directed the British actor when he played a mercenary intelligence agent in terrorism drama MUNICH last year (05), and Craig worried he'd never get such a gritty part again if he accepted the spy franchise offer. But after consulting the legendary movie-maker Craig was confident 007 wouldn't harm his career. He recalls, "I asked Steven Spielberg. I said, 'Would you employ me again if I did Bond?' "He said, 'Course I f**king would.' Well not quite like that. Or that profanity. But he's a huge Bond fan." Craig's debut 007 effort Casino Royale opens later this month (NOV06).
