Former THE WONDER YEARS star Danica McKellar has turned teacher, after writing a book encouraging teenage girls to take up maths.
MCKellar is best known for playing adolescent Winnie Cooper in the hit TV show in the late '80s and early '90s, but went on to pick up a degree in maths in 1998.
Now the 32-year-old has written new book Math Doesn't Suck: How To Survive Middle-School Math Without Losing Your Mind Or Breaking A Nail, which aims to teach American girls it's OK to be clever.
MCKellar says, "One of the messages I want to give to girls is that math is for them. My approach is not to say turn your back on glamour and make-up and boyfriends and all the other things girls are thinking about.
"I'm trying to say, 'Look, I think all that stuff is fun, too. I like shopping, I like make-up, and I like boyfriends, and I like all that girlie stuff. And by the way, why should there be a contradiction between that and being good in math?'"
