The half-brother of Dane Cook has been sentenced to five-to-six years in prison after being found guilty of embezzling millions of dollars from the comedian while he worked as his business manager, reports People Magazine.
45-year-old DARRYL MCCAULEY pleaded guilty to 27 counts of larceny, as well as several counts of forgery and embezzlement. It was revealed that MCCauley had written out a check for $3 million for himself, from Cook's bank account. He acted as the award winning comedian's business manager from the early 1990's until December 2008, and the court heard that he began moving funds from Cook's account to his own at the beginning of 2004. On his release, MCCauley must then serve a further 10 years in probation.
Cook and his half-brother share the same mother, Donna Cook, who died in 2006. At the present time, the comedian has refused to comment on the sentencing. Cook has had a hugely successful career in entertainment, releasing five comedy albums, one of which, 'Retaliation', became the highest charting comedy album in 28 years and gained platinum status in the US.
