Damon Albarn's animated rockers Gorillaz are set to poke fun at a British festive tradition as they produce an alternative to Queen Elizabeth II's speech this Christmas (05).

The comic address - screened on mobile phones - depicts cartoon band member MURDOC sporting a crown and cape while reminiscing about the year's (05) events.

But the royal parody is not likely to fill everyone with Christmas cheer, as British crooner James Blunt takes the brunt of most jokes.

Murdoc complains, "We've had so many ups and downs over the last year with toxic vapour clouds, earthquakes, face transplants and the end of (London's) Routemaster buses.

"But it's not all good news. We've had music from James Blunt - who needs valium? - Westlife, and more films from Harry Potter."
