Damian Lewis is convinced the writers of Homeland are planning to kill off his character.

The British actor plays war veteran-turned-Congressman Nicholas Brody in the hit U.S. drama, but he fears producers are aiming to shake up the show by axing his role.

He tells U.K. newspaper The Guardian, "You have to sign up for a long time, then they'll kill you at their leisure. I think the writers are desperate to kill me. I'm a pain in their a**es, because Brody is quite a difficult character to write. There's a high head count on Homeland. Any one of us could get it at any point."
