Opera star Dame Kiri Te Kanawa has been left shaken after a spooky encounter with a suspected ghost, during a stage performance on Wednesday night (25MAY05).
The 61-year-old singer was performing at Scotland's Usher Hall in Edinburgh when she heard haunting footsteps on the stage behind her.
After finishing the song, the New Zealand soprano turned to the audience and asked: "Did you hear the footsteps during the last piece? They were behind me. I wanted to look round. You have a ghost."
Audience members in the front row also claimed they heard the eerie sounds in the venue, which has a history of ghostly incidents.
An Usher Hall spokesperson says, "Dame Kiri was completely serious about it.
"You could tell she was completely freaked out. It was very strange."27/05/2005 14:02
