Daft Punk might have the most successful single of the year, having recently hit the billion mark on sales for Get Lucky, but the band remains as mysterious as ever. Case in point: Glastonbury. Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have not announced any tour dates following the release of Random Access Memories. Surely that’s impossible though, they have to promote the album somehow.

The robots at Glasto?

This seems to match up with bookies’ line of reasoning. Currently, the odds for the duo making a surprise appearance at the festival (which kicks off today) are set at 6/4, according to NME. For reference, the odds for Beady Eye (5/1), David Bowie (6/1) and Queens of the Stone Age (10/1) are also pretty high.

Never say never.

Even without touring though, Daft Punk are set to have one of the most successful runs in 2013 – and it’s not even July yet. Not only is Get Lucky an undisputed sales beast, while Random Access Memories debuted at No. 1 on Billboard. Add to that the fact that, with the addition of their collaborations with Kanye West, the Frenchmen currently hold four of the places in the UK Top 10, and it’s pretty obvious how tey can just stay off the festival circuit and still dominate the musical landscape this year. Hopefully that prediction doesn’t come true though, for the sake of Daft Punk fans, who’ve already put on their rain coats.

Fans (and bookies) are still hopeful.
