Kanye West isn't afraid to make his feelings be known and as you may expect, the rapper had plenty to say after the nominations for the 2014 Grammy Awards were revealed last week, with his latest album Yeezus only getting two nominations in the rap categories. Rather than count his blessings, Kanye let his feelings be known at a recent stop off in Phoenix, Arizona, where he queried what the Grammys are "trying to say."

Kanye can't believe he only has two Grammy nods

A video of Kanye's near-15-minute rant made its way on to KissFM's Instagram page and website, with the opinionated rapper questioning why on earth he has been overlooked in favour of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Sara Bareilles and others Kanye would never consider to be on his level. Informing the crowd, the rapper raved, "Yeezus is the top 1 or 2 album on every single list, but only gets two nominations from the Grammys. What are they trying to say?"

"Do they think I wouldn't notice," Kanye is then quoted as saying after the Instagram video ends. "Do they think that in some way I don't have the power to completely diminish all of their credibility at this moment? But no no only positive energy."

In defence of Kanye, he does kind of have a point for once, after all, Yeezus is one of the most critically-acclaimed albums of the year and has regularly found a place at or near the top of most critic's end of year list, but not all of them, like Kanye assumes. Instead, the Grammys have chosen to nominate Kendrick Lamar's Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, one of the best albums of 2012, Daft Punk's Random Access Memories, which is arguably the only nominated album worthy of winning the award, and three albums that have only made a commercial impact, but have been largely ignored by critics. They include The Heist by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Blessed Unrest by Sarah Bareilles and Red by Kanye's old friend Taylor Swift, three albums that will arguably be forgotten about by the time the Grammys are over.

Who are the other notable absentees in the Grammy nominations?
