Actress Cynthia Nixon's wife Christine Marinoni has landed a job with New York's new Mayor Bill de Blasio.

The Sex and the City star has been an ardent supporter of the politician since 2001 and now her wife will serve as a special adviser for community partnerships in the Department of Education.

Marinoni, who has worked as a community organiser for several years, will be responsible for "developing a plan on how we engage community partners - including businesses, nonprofits and community-based organizations - on our major education initiatives", a City Hall spokeswoman told the New York Daily News.
