Cuba Gooding JR has vowed never to star in another comedy, after becoming convinced humorous film roles have cost him his career. The actor, who won an Academy Award for his supporting role in Jerry Maguire, admits funny movies like Rat Race and Boat Trip have robbed him of audience respect. He says, "The studios won't see me now. I know my stock is low. "I thought people wanted me to make them laugh, but I was wrong on so many levels. "I try to take all my energy and take it into comedy, and that's when I'm terrible."
