Rising star and 21-year-old Miami native Cris Cab will release his debut album WHERE I BELONG on September 2nd via Island Records. The album, which showcases Cris' signature mix of pop/rock/reggae/soul, is available now for pre-order on iTunes. The pre-order currently includes an instant grat download of Cris' global hit "Liar Liar" (co-written & produced by Pharrell) and additional tracks will become available in the upcoming weeks. From the island rhythm of "The Sun Is Gonna Rise Again" and the acoustic folk inflections of "Fables," to the hip-hop hook on "Ticket" and the heartfelt "Goodbye," WHERE I BELONG marks the arrival of a truly unique voice.
Returning back to the States after a whirlwind run of live shows and TV appearances overseas, Cris will make a stop in New York City to appear live on the FOX 5 morning television show Good Day New York on July 23rd. He will also play a special NYC show at the Marlin Room at Webster Hall on July 24th. This will be one of only a few U.S. performances before Cris and his band join Pharrell on the road this fall for the European leg of the Dear G I R L world tour. On August 14, Cris will perform at Live 101.5's Back to School Bash at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, AZ alongside Trey Songz, Magic!, Jake Miller and more. The full list of tour dates is below.
Cris' infectious single "Liar Liar" is poised to be one of 2014's most exciting breakout hits, already garnering more than 26 million YouTube views, non-stop spins on Sirius Hits 1 and 20 on 20, a Top 10 spot on the Worldwide Top 40 Airplay Chart, triple platinum sales in the Netherlands and gold in Italy and a spot on the iTunes Top 10 in more than 30 countries. Earlier this year, Cris was named MTV's International PUSH Artist and he hit #1 on Twitter's Emerging Artists Chart in 2013.
Cris is receiving incredible critical praise for his soulful sound. Huffington Post raves, "Cab's got soul and plenty of it," while Esquire confirms, "Cris Cab brings something to the table that many flash-in-the-pan stars lack: soul". The NY Daily News says Cris "just might be the next best thing" and Perez Hilton calls him, "one to look out for."
Miami native Cris Cab is a natural-born singer who began honing his signature pop-reggae-soul sound at age 10. He picked up the guitar at 11, and began writing and recording his own songs on a 4-track machine he acquired at age 14. Digging through old records, he discovered the Police, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones. Spending summers with his parents in the Bahamas, he also came under the influence of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Buju Banton, and Gregory Isaacs, as well as R&B greats Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder (to name a few).
After releasing his Forward EP in June 2011, 2012 saw the release of Cris' debut mixtape Echo Boom, which featured collaborations with Wyclef, Pharrell, Melanie Fiona, and Marc Roberge of O.A.R. At this early stage of his career, Cris' tour-mates have included Ellie Goulding, Enrique Iglesias, Lorde, Tegan & Sara, Pitbull, Bastille T-Pain, Gym Glass Heroes, O.A.R., and Matisyahu, among others. It's no surprise that Cris' genre-bending style is rapidly gaining him worldwide recognition as one of the industry's most promising talents.
