The Crazy Frog ringtone rendition of AXEL F continues its reign at the top of the UK singles chart for a third successive week - this time holding off a challenge from rock titans U2.

U2's CITY OF BLINDING LIGHTS is a new entry at number two, failing to topple Crazy Frog's version of HAROLD FALTERMEYER's Beverly Hills Cop movie theme tune, which made British chart history by becoming the first mobile ringtone to cross into the mainstream music chart.

Akon's LONELY falls a place to number three, while Feel Good Inc by the Gorillaz also drops a spot to this week's number four.

Staying a second week in fifth place is Amerie's 1 THING.

Meanwhile, the UK albums chart sees Coldplay jump straight into the top spot with their third effort X+Y, displacing OASIS' DON'T BELIEVE THE TRUTH, which now sits at number two.

THE WHITE STRIPES' GET BEHIND ME SATAN is a new entry at number three, while singer/songwriter James Blunt is at number four with Back To Bedlam.

Faithless compilation FOREVER FAITHLESS - THE GREATEST HITS drops two places to number five.
