Body Double Review

Very Good
Craig Wasson, where have you gone? I was ready to assume Wasson's career had vanished after an unlikely star turn in Body Double, a big budget thriller with Melanie Griffith and director Brian De Palma. Turns out he's had roles in some interesting follow ups: A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Malcolm X, and Akeelah and the Bee. Who knew? Wasson is still alive and well and working a lot, it seems.

None of his roles have matched that of Body Double, though, where the Bill Maher lookalike appears in nearly every scene. Maybe we'll be able to ferret out why during the course of this review.

Ghost Story Review

Very Good
Rather typical story (wrongful death, vengeful ghost) is masked by one of the most curious casts in horror history: Astaire? Fairbanks? Houseman? Holy crap! These guys would be watchable in an infomercial, and their cavorting with a mostly-naked Alice Krige makes for an unforgettable, if not terribly scary, Ghost Story.

A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors Review

Good
The Nightmare continues, with two newcomers who would turn out to be fairly big stars -- Patricia Arquette and "Larry" Fishburne (dig the beard!) -- plus appearances from two classic actors whose presence is always welcome -- Dick Cavett and Zsa Zsa Gabor. This time, Heather Langenkamp from Nightmare #1 is a counselor to troubled teens, and Freddie decides to try to get them to commit suicide, thus doing in his old nemesis and a bunch of rotten kids at the same time. Far better than Nightmare #2, this one has a serpentine Freddie vomiting up a half-eaten, perpetually screaming Arquette. Can you not love this?
