Courteney Cox Arquette is ready to ditch her husband's name, once the former couple's divorce is finalized. The actress included the request in a response to her estranged husband David filing divorce papers. Records show that both stars filed the paperwork within a minute of each other on Friday (June 8, 2012).
The couple - whose split appears to have been fairly complex - cite irreconcilable differences as the reason for seeking to end their 12 year marriage, while both are seeking custody of their 8-year-old daughter. It appeared as though the couple would reconcile on numerous occasions, and they often appeared in public together despite the split, though the paperwork has finally been filed. The former couple will be representing themselves in the proceedings, which suggests the courtroom negotiations will be fairly straightforward. They first announced their separation in October 2010, though listed December 31, 2011, as their official separation date.
The pair first met on the set of the horror movie 'Scream' in 1996, marrying three years later. During an appearance on Howard Stern's Sirius-Xm radio show in 2011, Cox explained, "Our relationship is probably better than it would be if we lived together. It's definitely better than it used to be. We communicate better, we have much more respect for each other, we listen. It's hard".
