"It's gonna be awful." The 'Glee' sports coach has opened up about the Cory Monteith memorial episode and Demi Lovato's arrival in new series.
Glee goes on: actress Jane Lynch has spoken of her feelings towards the fifth - said to be final - series of the high school TV show. Speaking at the Television Academy Performers Peer Group Reception, the 53 year-old said that it's not going to be an easy ride for any of the cast or crew to bid a final farewell to Cory Monteith who was found dead at 31 after a drugs overdose, reports E!.
Jane Lynch Has Described The Cory Monteith Tribute Episode As "Beautiful."
The actress tweeted yesterday (21st Aug) "Just read Cory Monteith memorial episode. Most beautiful thing. Thank you, @MrRPMurphy @BFalchuk Ian Brennan." Glee creator Ryan Murphy revealed this week that despite rumours, the final episode would not have Monteith's Finn Hudson written out of the show by a drugs overdose.
Speaking about the filming of the episode that would mark Monteith's death and departure from the show, Lynch said "It's gonna be terrible. It has to be done but it's gonna be awful."
Cory Monteith's co-star and girlfriend Lea Michele was too devastated to appear in public for weeks after Monteith's death yet helped organise both Cory's funeral and a private memorial ceremony for the show's cast and crew.

However, there has been some good news regarding the series' return in September: pop star and former Disney Channel actress Demi Lovato has been confirmed to appear on the show. Lovato will play a struggling New York artist who befriends Lea Michele's Rachel, according to TVLine. Singer Adam Lambert is also set to join the musical cast as Lovato's nemesis. The singer has signed for six episodes and will appear in the second episode on 3rd October which will also be the second half of a Glee Beatles tribute. Cory Monteith's tribute episode will be aired the week after.
Speaking to E!, Lynch spoke of Lovato's upcoming arrival on the show, saying "I have no idea if I'm working with her at all. I hope so! I have no idea what her storyline is but I'm happy she's with us." When asked if she's a Demi fan, Jane laughed: "I don't know her [music] very well. I'm an old lady! I know she went out with Joe Jonas and he broke her heart. And she seems to be doing fine. I know everything about the Jonas Brothers, OK!"
The memorial episode will be aired after two Beatles tributes this autumn.
On a sorrowful note, when Lynch was asked what she missed most about Cory she said, "His dimples. His smile. So cute."
Glee will return on Thursday 26th September on Fox.
