Some argue the 31 year-old's career wasn't long or illustrious enough to warrant Emmy's tribute.
Few would argue that the death of Glee actor Cory Monteith was not one of the most high profile, widely publicised celebrity losses of the year. The 31 year-old star was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room back in July after what was found to be an overdose involving a deadly cocktail of heroin and alcohol. Monteith enjoyed a relatively short but bright career as one of the TV show's central characters whose on screen relationship with Lea Michele mirrored their real lives.
Cory Monteith's Death Came As A Shock To Many.
Tributes still flood in for the star, the cast and crew are said to be devastated and Michele has barely been seen in public since: Cory's absence left a deep wound. Therefore it was probably fitting that this year's 65th Emmy Awards would make the decision to include a special tribute to Monteith in their annual 'In Memoriam' section ahead of Glee's official tribute episode when the new series starts airing next month.

The stars met in 2001 when Nicks featured in Destiny's Child's 'Bootilicious' video after the song sampled Nicks' own 'Edge of Seventeen' 1981 hit song. It is not known if the two performers have interacted since but it seems that Queen Bey left a lasting impact on the rock singer.

Jane Lynch says the Cory Monteith tribute will be difficult to film, though called it "beautiful."
It appears as though Glee creator Ryan Murphy has given the late Cory Monteith a fitting tribute, despite speculation that writers would use the actor's death to warn of the dangers of drug addiction.
Of course, the show is likely to address that issue following the death of one of its biggest stars, though it appears the planned memorial episode will remember Monteith for the talent he was.

What do we do?” he says in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “Ultimately, we decided the best thing for everyone is to get back to work and be around people who knew him and loved him so that everyone can grieve together.”

The network's decision to renew one of its most popular productions comes as no surprise.
Fox’s musical dramedy series Glee has been renewed and will join returning shows like Bones and The Following on the network’s roster. Not only that, but Glee has been renewed for a fifth and sixth season, meaning we can expect the Lea Michele starrer back in 2014 as well. "Glee debuted as the first and only successful musical comedy series on television, and more than four years later, it continues to defy genres, break new ground and have a significant impact on popular culture,” Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said in a statement announcing the news on Friday. “Week in and week out, Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan, Dante DiLoreto and the entire Glee team deliver a series that not only delights and surprises fans, but also inspires them to talk about, share, debate and engage with the show - and I’m absolutely thrilled to have them on board for another two seasons.”
Back in January, Reilly dropped a hint that the network might be renewing Glee for more than one season, by saying: "We're going to negotiate now for the fifth season and beyond."
The decision makes sense for Fox, since Glee – as loved and hated by audiences as it may be – is one of the network’s top performers in terms of ratings. It has performed especially well in its new Thursday 9PM slot and the writers have covered topics oriented toward a more mature audience, like in last week’s school shooting themed episode. It will be interesting what direction the writing team decide to take now, with the possibility of developing story arcs over the next two seasons.

Glee actor has abandoned the show's final episodes and admitted himself to rehab
The Glee actor Cory Monteith has checked into rehab, according to a story from People. Apparently, the 30 year-old admitted himself into rehab voluntarily, to deal with substance addictions. He’s been known to have suffered from issues relating to addiction in the past and his rep told People that he has “voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction.”
His rep added “he graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery.” Back in 2011, Monteith spoke about past issues that he had had with substance abuse and revealed that he had been in rehab before, when was aged just 19. During the interview, he explained that he hoped that being public and honest about his rehab would help other people going through similar struggles. “I don't want kids to think it's okay to drop out of school and get high, and they'll be famous actors, too," he said, back in 2011. "But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it.”
In another report, from Deadline, a spokesperson from the Fox network revealed that the show has two more episodes to shoot in the current series. “Cory is a beloved member of the Glee family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment,” said the show’s producers 20th Century Fox. ““Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return.”

Cory Monteith, who stars as Finn Hudson in the comedy/musical/drama show Glee, has admitted himself into rehab voluntarily as he struggles to cope with his 'substance abuse' problems. It’s official! An early Christmas present for gleeks everywhere – Glee’s Lea Michelle has confirmed that she is dating co-star Cory Monteith. The pair have been an on-again-off-again item on screen ever since the show’s first season and finally, on last week’s episode of Ellen, Monteith confirmed that life does indeed imitate art. Well, it imitates Glee, at least.
Unlike Rachel and Finn, their on-screen counterparts, the real-life pair seem very happy and stable. “No one knows me better than Cory. No one knows what it's been like to go through this more than he does … He makes me feel like I can do anything,” Lea Michelle comments in a Marie Claire interview.
Good for them, we say. A stable relationship like Mochelle’s (the newest abomination of a couple’s nickname) is a rare thing in Hollywood, so it seems only natural to root for the happy couple. However, those who were hoping that their real-life romance might add some plausibility to the Glee plotlines probably shouldn’t hold their breath. It’s unknown how long the couple has been together, but rumors about them first started surfacing this spring, and so far, the off-screen romance doesn’t seem to have impacted the show in any way.

Rachel and Finn have had a very tumultuous relationship in Glee, to say the least. But in real life the actors who play both those characters have a dream-like relationship.
Lea Michele (Rachel) and Cora Monteith (Finn) have been dating for months but they only unveiled the news publicly on Ellen, to its host Ellen Degeneres. Ellen asked him about 'Monchele' and what it means. He replied "Well, of course I know what Monchele is... it's Monteith and Michele... Yeah [we are a couple]." The news of which inspired the audience to scream their approval.
Despite both looking as though they're in high school, like their famous Glee characters, Michele is in fact 26 while Cory is 30, and it's right about time for a grown-up relationship. Michele is gracing the cover of Marie Claire this month in which she has spoken about her relationship with Cory. "I don't even remember a time when he wasn't my boyfriend. No one knows me better than Cory," quotes NY Daily News. "No one knows what it's been like to go through this more than he does. Feeling like you have that net underneath you allows you to jump higher and go farther... He makes me feel like I can do anything. For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world."
