British soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae has returned to the recording studio for the first time since the tragic death of her musician husband last year (08).
Jason Rae, a member of superproducer Mark Ronson's band, died from an accidental drug overdose in March 2008.
The Put Your Records On hitmaker has shied away from the spotlight since the incident, but she recently stepped back into the studio to write some new music and admits her tracks are a lot darker than her previous work.
But singer/songwriter Bailey Rae admits she almost put down her pen for good because the pain of her loss was so unbearable.
She says, "I did think I could never do this sort of thing again, because if anyone asked me about Jason, I would just explode.
"For a long time, I didn't even try to write. It was just too big a thing, too raw."
