Actress Connie Britton has been named a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador.
The Nashville star has been appointed to the U.N. Development Programme, which was created to eradicate global poverty.
She says, "A lot of the work I have done has been around that, particularly focusing on women's issues. To me working with the U.N. feels like it will be a really effective way to try to solve some problems, so I'm excited."
Britton joins Angelina Jolie, David Beckham and Placido Domingo among the current ambassadors for the organisation.
