esults for the new season barely made it into its third-quarter count, but Comcast said today (Friday) that its NBC unit showed a 31.2-percent increase in revenue for the quarter to $6.8 billion, and while a good chunk of that revenue was attributable to the network's coverage of the Summer Olympics, Comcast noted that even if The Games were excluded, NBC's revenue would have been up 8.3 percent. In any event, analysts said that the results were far better than expected. In a conference call, Comcast chief Brian Roberts noted that NBC has become the No. 1 network among the key 18-49 age group this season and that its ratings are up 17 percent from last season. It's certainly early, he said, but I believe and hope we are seeing the beginning of a turnaround at NBC.
